Bringing the BBC Micro back in mixed reality on Quest 3
Just got my Meta Quest 3. It's been fun to use Arm technology to bring its ancestor, the BBC Micro, back to life in mixed reality. I built this using WebXR and three.js. Still more to do, but it's looking pretty sweet.
Virtual Beeb was originally for desktop and mobile. We built it during the 2021 holidays for the Beeb's 40th birthday. Under the hood is Matt Godbolt's JSBeeb emulator, with a CRT shader from Paul Malin.
It's just a fun side project, but I'm a believer that the immersive web has huge potential for visualisation and interaction in embedded applications too.
